You might be interested in Governance, Risk Management and Assurance books that I rate by authors I hold in high esteem. I am putting links to them on Amazon on this page.

Risk

This is probably one of the best books on risk that I have ever read - if not the best. In due course I will also add some links to articles by John Adams. A geography professor, John has brought a refreshing veiw to risk and its management, debunking some of its worst myths, but at the same time providing some great analytical tools. For a whole lot more from John go to his website. There is a LOT to read!

Organized Uncertainty

This is a great book on the pervasiveness of risk management in our society. Michael Power was co-director of the Centre for Analysis of Risk & Regulation at the LSE for a number of years, having worked hard to establish the centre in the first place. Without a doubt, a great contribution to the literature.

Some interesting articles

Beyond box-ticking, A new era for risk governance. This is a report from the Economist Intelligence Unit, sponsored by ACE and KPMG (thanks...) An interesting picture, some of which I disagree with, but telling as we begin to approach risk oversight committees. Click here for more...

Risk Management by Joe Nacera of the New York Times. This article looks at some of the frailties of VaR in a most engaging way. Well worth the read. Click here for more...

Deus e Brasileiro? by John Adams. A great introduction to John's thoughts on risk management. Click here for more...
